Preparing the test equipment

To assure comparable results on different hardware, similar settings has to be applied on all systems. See below some general steps to be applied on the test system.

  • Assure the PC has 2 physical memory banks.
  • Set the BIOS to default settings or to real-time default settings if possible.
  • Adjust the BIOS to disable USB Legacy mode and all power saving settings, which lead to CPU throttling or other settings which significantly influence real-time behavior.
  • BIOS: set DVMT Pre-Allocated and total Gfx to the maximum if possible.
  • Verify, that Windows 10 LTSC Version 1809 is installed.
  • Install all Windows updates.
  • Apply acontis real-time optimization settings for Windows 10, but keep the original graphics adapter driver.
  • Install Passmark Burnin test application (https://www.passmark.com/products/bit.htm).
  • Install EC-WinRTOS-32 version 7.0.06.01.
  • Start the System Manager, create a new workspace and add the RTOS.
  • Change the CPU assignment and assign the last CPU to the RTOS:
  • On the “Realtime Optimizations” tab uncheck “Enable Intel processor driver” and check “Enable C1E patch”.
  • Save the workspace and restart if necessary.
  • Start the System Manager again. Select menu Configuration -> Edit user.config. Add the following lines to the file:
    [Vmf]
    "VtAllowed"=dword:1

  • Start the Realtime Analyze.

Assure that all 3 lights are green when the Realtime Analyze is started.

If Realtime Analyze shows SMIs, then add the following  settings to configuration file:

[Optimizations]

"ValueD1"=dword:1

Measurements

  • Start the SystemManager
  • Press Menu -> Run -> Show Console.
  • Change PuTTyTel to save all output into the file: right-click on Window header.
    Change Settings -> Session -> Logging.
  • Start the Realtime Analyze.
  • Start the Burnin test.
  • Wait for 24 hours.
  • Stop the Realtime Analyze.
  • Save lights status as a picture.
  • Close the System Manager and backup Putty log to some location together with lights picture.
  • Add Min/Avg/Max values from Task latency to the summary document.
